I finally remembered to take pictures at the beginning of a project. I bought this project rat just like you see it in the next few pictures. The top is chopped off and the doors welded shut.

The front has some kind of body drop. The torsions are still there, so I'll try a pair of kyb gas shocks.

The rear was slammed to the ground. I think the torsions are pulled, so there was no rear suspension. There were some rusted out air shocks. The first and only thing done so far is put on a pair of coilovers.

The interior has all these flame painted panels. I'm thinking about getting it running and driving it without touching the paint.

The windshield frame has been chopped, but the welds are poor and there is no glass.

I got  a few parts. The rear fenders are 3" wider. I bought new wheels and had them powdercoated, and bought some shocks for the front. I have not decided if it will have fenders or not.

This is the motor for the rat. It is a 2 liter type 4, with 103mm pistons, making it a 2366. Should make the rat pop wheelies.

Did a brake job on all 4 wheels. Bought some tires and mounted the new fenders on the rear. Then I decided to make one side full fendered and one fenderless to decide on the look I wanted. First fenderless view.

Second fenderless view.

First full fendered view. Say that three times fast.

I'm 90% finished now. Blacked out the headlight rings and attached a bullet turn signal to it. Still need a windshield and a trunk lock.

The wide rear fenders look good. The back seat is an old BlueBird school bus saet. It fit in the package tray with only minor blows from a sledge hammer.

View of the 2366 type 4 motor. I had the exhausts turned the other way, but somebody would have tripped over them and broke their neck. You can see the BlueBird on the seat. I'm going to cut the fenders away from the exhaust, but leave the bumper bracket mounts. I think I'll mount a trailer hitch to them so I can drive this and tow my trike to VW shows.

2 more of the bullet lights on each side for brake/tail/turn lights. I'll probably black them out like the front.

I don't plan to paint any of the body. I'm going to try to locate the guy that did the drawings and see if he will redo/fix them.

Lots of artwork on the tank. I forgot I stuck the turn signal flasher in a wire package temporarily. I might just leave it there.

I have door panels and front kick panels that match the dash that still have to go back in. How about that cobra on the bus shifter? The caps where the top was cut off are just a piece of pvc gutter drain pipe cut in half and pop riveted to the body.

1700 bus motor. Blew up the 2366 in less than 100 miles. Shouldn't trust other peoples "rebuilt" motors. I'll rebuild it properly and stroke it a little too.

Finished now. Time to start a new project. What do you think about a sand rail front end with Goldwing pusher.
